Idex asks only for the access its features need, and never stores your customers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses or payment details. The privacy policy has the full details.
What Idex can access, and why
| Access | Why |
|---|---|
| Products (read and write) | To scan your products, and to write the fixes you approve. |
| Metaobjects and their definitions (write) | To save the product FAQs you approve, and the category attribute values Idex fills in. |
| Orders (read) | To find the orders that came from AI assistants. |
| Store policies (read) | For the refund, shipping, privacy, terms of service and contact checks. |
| Online store pages (read) | For the About and FAQ page checks. |
| Navigation (write) | To add the one URL redirect IndexNow needs. |
When you uninstall
- Idex’s access to your store ends right away, and Shopify cancels any paid plan.
- 48 hours later, Shopify asks Idex to delete your store’s data, and Idex deletes it.
- Product changes you approved (categories, attributes, descriptions, SEO titles and alt text) stay on your products. If you want the original values back, or don’t want Idex’s FAQs kept, undo them in Fix Studio before you uninstall. It lists your 20 most recent approvals.
- The IndexNow redirect stays, unless you turn IndexNow off before you uninstall.
AI answers are stored without your store’s ID and shared between stores, so they’re kept after you uninstall. A question can still include your store’s name, like “is Your Store legit”, or words you typed.
Customer data requests
When a customer asks a store to delete their data, Shopify tells Idex, and Idex deletes its records of that customer’s orders. Idex holds no customer names, emails or addresses, only order-level records like an order’s total and products.
