Fix Studio drafts fixes to the product data that Shopify Catalog and AI assistants read. Each draft is built from your own products and policies and shows where every value came from. Nothing changes on your store until you approve.
What Fix Studio drafts
| Fix | When Idex drafts it | Where the value comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Category | The product has no category. Idex never changes a category you’ve set. | How your other products of the same type are categorized, or Shopify’s category list matched against the product type, collections and title. |
| Category attributes | The product has a category, but attributes it mentions, like colour, size or material, are empty. | Variants, title, product type, tags and description. |
| Description | The description is under 80 characters, or names fewer than two details. | Keeps your words and adds facts from the product’s own data. |
| SEO title | The SEO title, or the product title when there isn’t one, is under 20 or over 70 characters. | The title, product type, category and store name. |
| Alt text | An image has no alt text (the first 20 images of each product). | The title, the variant colour the image shows and the image’s file name. |
| FAQs | The product has an option with two or more values, like sizes or colours. | Variants, your refund and shipping policies, and the description. More about FAQs |
Fixes are grouped in three tabs: Product data (category, attributes, description and SEO title), FAQs and Alt text. Only active and unlisted products get drafts, and drafts are refreshed after every scan.
When Idex needs your input
When Idex can’t find a value it’s sure of, it marks it Needs your input instead of filling it in:
- For a category, pick the closest of up to five suggestions, or set it in Shopify admin.
- For an attribute the product mentions but Idex can’t match, pick the value from the list.
- For variants with names of their own (a Color option in Ice, Dawn and Powder), pick the closest colour for each one. Every pick is written, so no colourway goes missing; a variant Idex could place (Black) is kept as it is.
- For a description, when the product’s own data doesn’t say enough to pass the check, write in what it’s made of, its size or what it’s for; Idex starts you off with what it could say. Or press Write it for me: a language model writes the description from that data alone, one product at a time, and Idex checks every material, measurement, number and claim in the answer against the product before it becomes the draft, marked Written by Idex from your title, variants and description; check it before approving. An answer that adds something the product doesn’t say is dropped, and Idex tells you what it added.
Values that need your input aren’t written until you choose them. If you change a product’s category, Idex drafts its attributes again for the category you chose.
Approve one product or many
- Approve on a product approves its drafted fixes in the tab and fix type you’re viewing. Attributes drafted for a category the product doesn’t have yet take that category with them, and the card shows both, so nothing is approved unseen.
- To approve many at once, select them and press Approve N selected. Every drafted product starts out selected, except those marked Needs a look.
- Edit lets you change a draft. Press Save changes before you approve.
- Skip sets a product’s fix aside. Idex won’t draft that fix for that product again. Skipping a category also skips the attributes drafted for it.
Before writing, Idex reads each product again. If the field changed in Shopify after the draft, Idex leaves it as it is and marks the fix Not applied. After writing, Idex scans your store again so your score catches up.
Undo a fix
Every approval appears in Fix Studio’s Undo history, which lists your 20 most recent approvals. Press Undo to put the original values back:
- Categories go back to none, and the attribute values Idex filled are removed.
- Descriptions and SEO titles go back to what they were.
- Alt text and FAQs that Idex added are removed.
If you changed a value in Shopify after the fix, undo leaves your change in place. Undone products still count toward this month’s limit.
Monthly limits
Your plan sets how many products you can fix each month: 25 on Free, 500 on Starter and unlimited on Growth and Scale (fair use, up to 5,000 a month). When the month’s fixes are used up, drafts wait in Fix Studio. See Plans, limits and billing.
