Buyer questions

How Idex builds your buyer questions, how many your plan tracks, and how to edit the list.

Buyer questions are what Idex asks AI assistants for you, the way a shopper would, to see whether the answers mention your store.

How the list is built

Idex suggests up to 25 questions from your store’s own data:

  • Best sellers, by units sold in the last 60 days, such as “best armchairs under $750”. If your store has no sales yet, Idex uses your most recently updated products.
  • Product types and collections, such as “best rain jackets” and “where to buy rain jackets online”. Collections like All, Sale or New arrivals are skipped.
  • Your brand, such as “Your Store return policy”, “is Your Store legit”, “Your Store shipping times” and “Your Store reviews”.

How many are tracked

Your plan tracks the first ticked questions in your list: 5 on Free, 25 on Starter, 75 on Growth and 200 on Scale. You can keep up to 200 questions on any plan. Questions past your plan’s limit show the plan that would track them, and unticked ones show Off.

Edit your questions

Open AI Visibility and choose Add question, or press Review questions in Home’s setup guide. Then:

  • drag a question to reorder it, or use Alt with the arrow keys,
  • untick a question to leave it out, or press × to remove it,
  • type in Add your own and press Add. Keep each question under 150 characters.

Press Save questions when you’re done. New questions go to the bottom of the list, so move them up if your plan’s limit is already used.

Market and language

Idex asks your questions in English, as a shopper in your store’s country (from your store address). If your store has no country set, Idex uses the United States.

Tips for good questions

  • Ask the way shoppers do: “best waterproof hiking boots for wide feet”, not a product name.
  • Say what the product is for, or who it’s for, when that’s how people choose.
  • The brand questions Idex suggests show how assistants describe you, but they don’t count toward your mention rate. Questions you add always count.
