Shopify serves an /agents.md file for every store, which AI agents can read to learn about it. By default, /llms.txt shows the same content. Idex can draft a fuller version from your collections and policies. It’s optional.
What the draft includes
- your store name and the first sentence of its description,
- up to six of your collections, each with a link and a short description,
- links to your returns, shipping and contact information.
You’ll find it on Schema & AI files. It’s rebuilt each time you open the page, so it always reflects your current collections.
Add it to your store
It takes about three minutes:
- On Schema & AI files, press Copy on the agents.md draft.
- In Shopify admin, open Online Store › Themes, then Edit code on your live theme.
- Under Templates, choose Add a new template and create a Liquid template named
agents.md, so the file istemplates/agents.md.liquid. - Replace its contents with the draft and save.
- Open
/agents.mdon your store to check it.
Idex doesn’t edit your theme, so nothing changes until you save the template yourself.
Keep it current
When you add or rename collections, copy the new draft and paste it into the template again. To go back to Shopify’s default file, delete the template.
